The deep indigo swells of the Great Southern Ocean captured from above. The most powerful of the world’s five oceans lies off Australia’s south coast and 60 degrees south elsewhere, extending all the way to Antarctica. It’s home to the ‘Roaring Forties’, a weather system both feared and harnessed by traders from the Age of Sail as well as modern round-the-world racers.
