The Simpson Desert covers 176,500 square kms across Queensland, the Northern Territory and South Australia. While mostly arid sandy plain and dunes, it sits above the Great Artesian Basin one of the world’s largest inland drainage areas. In places, water rises to the surface, bringing life to native vegetation, while sustaining fish, snails and other invertebrates.
We recognise and acknowledge the Wangkangurru Yarluyandi people as the traditional custodians of this land.
